Kit Overview
We are the exclusive reseller of the UNCW MARBIONC Enzyme-linked Immunosorbant Assay (ELISA) that can detect brevetoxins. This test kit has been approved by the International Shellfish Sanitation Conference (ISSC) as a Limited Use Method for detection of brevetoxins and neurotoxic shellfish poisoning management (1,2). Brevetoxins are produced by the harmful algae Karenia brevis that is responsible for Florida red tides. When brevetoxins contaminate shellfish and are consumed, it can lead to Neurotoxic Shellfish Poisoning (3). The MARBIONC ELISA comes in a 15 x 96-well plate format with enough reagents for up to 1,440 samples (and standards). This ELISA has been used for seawater, shellfish, and mammalian bodily fluids (4,5).
